Life started its water well program in 2011 because there was a critical need for water in Somalia during the worst drought that had struck the Horn of Africa in 60 years. The severe food and water shortage threatened the lives of over 9.5 million people.

In 2011-2012 Life stepped in and with the help of donors like you dug 68 wells in Somalia. After seeing the positive impact on the communities in Somalia, we began expanding our program which now includes fifteen countries.​
